Fresh from two out of two correct selections last time out, Wayne Mardle is back and previewing this Thursday's Premier League darts matches...

"Barney has reached the playoffs six times so he knows how to accumulate points, and I can't see any reason why the five time-champion of the world doesn't win this."

Wes Newton v Raymond van Barneveld
19:15

I wouldn't normally recommend anyone so short in price (1.574/7) but I make Raymond a stone wall certainty on Thursday night.

For some reason, Wes continues to find the Premier League out of his comfort zone, and he has bad memories of last year's event too which I think that might be preying on his mind. He needed a good start against Peter Wright last week but didn't get it.

RVB on the other hand played beautifully last week and averaged over 108 in a demolition job of Gary Anderson. Barney has reached the playoffs six times so he knows how to accumulate points, and I can't see any reason why the five time-champion of the world doesn't win this.

It's got to be a big recommendation for Barney.

Recommended Bet
Back Raymond van Barneveld to beat Wes Newton at 1.574/7

Gary Anderson v Simon Whitlock
20:45

Gary Anderson is unreliable. On his day, he's a player who can beat anyone, and has, but he's also someone who can lose to anyone.

Well, I hope it's the former that turns up to play Simon. Anderson has been playing brilliantly over the last few months and when he gets into a rhythm he can be majestic.

I think the pace of the game will suit both, I just have a niggling doubt about Simon at the moment, he doesn't seem to be scoring as well as he can and I think if his 60 hitting is off he'll get totally out scored by the Scotsman. A loss for either would be a massive blow as they both lost last week. Overall though, I think Gary has what it takes to beat Simon this week.

Recommended Bet
Back Gary Anderson to beat Simon Whitlock at 2.111/10

Wayne Mardle P/L

If you had placed £10 on each of our darts columnist's recommendations during the World Championships you would have emerged with a profit of £133 (before commission). Tips included Michael van Gerwen to win pre-tournament at 4.9 and a 8.0 correct score tip on the final as MVG beat Peter Wright 7-4.
