Dave Chisnall can raise his average against MVG in Cardiff tonight
Dave Chisnall can raise his average against MVG in Cardiff tonight

There's still plenty of jostling to do in the top eight positions as we head to Cardiff for week nine of this year's Premier League, and our man Wayne Mardle has two recommended bets for you to consider...

"Dave has made 'the cut', and will not be eliminated after this evening's play. That's a relief for him. I'm hoping he can relax and play something near his best."

Back Dave Chisnall Average Over 94.5 @ 5/6

Raymond van Barneveld v James Wade

It'd be spot on to say you won't get rich backing against James Wade, the sports ultimate spoiler. It's all about timing. Tonight is Barney's time.

There is little between these two in the head-to-head stats. One not exactly dominant over the other for any run of matches at all. Barney leads 23-21. They have drawn four times in the Premier League since 2008.

This punt is purely current performances based.

Raymond is a streaky player. When his tail is up he's mind is usually strong. Raymond needs the game to feel easy, and right now he's playing like it is. He's beaten the top two players in the world in the last fortnight.

James is hard to evaluate, he can be completely outplayed in a match, but then finds an outshot that turns the tide.

Wade has looked a little out of sorts recently. His doubles have been erratic, and that's the part that gets him out of trouble.

I'm confident Raymond will give a good account of himself, and if he does, I feel he'll win this match.

If Raymond can win tonight he would consolidate third place in the table.

Michael van Gerwen v Dave Chisnall

Live on Sky Sports 1

Chizzy' average spread has been set at 94.5. In the Premier League so far, Dave has only beaten the spread three times.

In his last 50 matches he's beaten an average of 94.5, 28 times.

Okay, the odds don't seem off, but Michael Van Gerwen is a known inflater of averages. Van Gerwen limits the chances his opponents have at doubles, in turn, improving their average. Dave's darting disasters normally revolve around missed doubles.

Chizzy isn't playing at his best, but I still think at 5/6, I'd rather be on Over 94.5.

Dave has made 'the cut', and will not be eliminated after this evening's play. That's a relief for him. I'm hoping he can relax and play something near his best.

It's fair to say Micheal has had Chizzy's number of late, but we don't care who wins, just as long as Dave performs better than the average of 94.5.

*Kim Huybrechts was unable to travel to Cardiff due to family reasons back home in Belgium. Because he was already eliminated in week 8, Peter Wright was awarded the win by default and the game will not be rescheduled, giving Wright the night off.
