Wayne Mardle's PDC World Championship Tips: Back another routine win for Taylor

Wayne fancies The Power to record a routine win tonight
Wayne fancies The Power to record a routine win tonight

Barring his last-16 win over Kim Huybrechts it's been a relatively easy ride to the quarter-finals for Phil Taylor, and our man Wayne Mardle believes The Power will revert to winning comfortably tonight against his Dutch opponent...

"I see Vincent causing a few moments of concern for Phil but in general I think it'll be a routine win for The Power."

Phil Taylor v Vincent van der Voort
19:10

We know that averages are only a guide to how well a player is throwing; the man with the higher average doesn't always win, just ask Adrian Lewis who lost to Raymond van Barneveld despite being over five points better in that regard.

Vincent is averaging just 92 per throw. Of course, he can improve, he has had set averages bordering a 100 on a few occasions so far, against Dean Winstanley and John Henderson, but he's lacking that real high consistency right now that'll be needed to beat Phil Taylor this evening.

Van Der Voort has been playing some fantastic darts in spells recently but playing against and beating The Power is a different thing entirely.

I can see Vincent winning about eight or nine legs so therefore I have to think he'll pinch a set.

This game isn't about Taylor, he'll average around a ton, I know that and you know that, but more importantly Vincent knows that. The pressure heaped on the big Dutchman is plentiful, let me tell you when you're chasing the game it's tough, your action gets tested to its limits, your mind is wondering, you can become panicked. Vincent will likely experience some of these emotions today.

Phil was in trouble against Kim Huybrechts, the Belgian was standing up to the great man with great arrers, but like so many before him he buckled when he needed to remain steadfast.

I see Vincent causing a few moments of concern for Phil but in general I think it'll be a routine win for The Power.
