Wayne Mardle: Three bets for day two at the World Grand Prix

Can Burnett score an upset win?

Our man in Dublin picks a trio to follow ahead of the second night of action at this unique tournament

"Burnett is a danger to Lewis and I think 3.259/4 is a decent price on the outsider."

Back Richie Burnett @ 3.259/4

I said there'd be some first round shocks at the World Grand Prix and that proved to be the case on the first day with Simon Whitlock - one of my tentative tournament fancies - just one of the big names to crash out.

And that trend may well continue tonight when Richie Burnett takes on Adrian Lewis.

Make no mistake, Burnett is a danger to Lewis and I think 3.259/4 is a decent price on the outsider.

Lewis is a flowing, enigmatic sort of player; some days he's fantastic, other days mediocre. If he has an off day then Richie will win, because he's class.

I wouldn't go mad, but at 3.259/4 he's certainly worth a small investment.

That's my long shot on day two, for two shorter priced fancies I give you Andy Smith and Wes Newton.

Smith takes on Steve Beaton, and is a marginal outsider in the betting at 2.111/10, but my man loves the event. If he pops his double 18s early on - Andy loves that double 18 - then he has to be fancied. Against such an in-and-out player I have to take a chance on Smith to enjoy another World Grand Prix win.

Newton is a player on the upgrade and I don't think it'll be long before we see him in the Premier League. Ronnie Baxter hasn't won at the World Grand Prix since 2006 and Newton will add another year to the tally.

At 1.645/8 I'll pop him and Smith in a Multiple - paying at around 3.412/5.
