After advising a further winner yesterday, Wayne Mardle is back with his verdict on the semi-final between Peter Wright and Gary Anderson...
Peter Wright v Gary Anderson
Live on Sky Sports Action
Both these players have produced outrageous quality in this event, Gary more often than Snakebite.
Against Glen Durrant in the previous round, Peter struggled. He was mainly going high and low on the twenty bed, that was worrying. He's one of the biggest 140 hitters in the sport, I think he'll have to be to even compete.
Gary's level of play in this event has been better than anyone's. He produced the sixth highest average in the tournaments history, when beating Berry van Peer with 111.79. To do that against someone struggling with dartitis is even more impressive.
Anderson's scoring and finishing has been far superior to his opponents, given that Gary has won six of their seven meetings this year, I'm struggling to find a way for Snakebite to win this. The head to head record, the current "form", and the long format all play into the hands of Anderson.
These two aren't enemies, but it'd be fair to say there's a little needle there. Gary when slightly annoyed seems to thrive, he becomes focused, while in my opinion, Peter becomes inhibited.
I see so many positives here that I can't see any other outcome other than a Gary Anderson victory.
