It's the battle of the big guns tonight as Phil Taylor takes on James Wade. Wayne Mardle previews the match and provides his best bet...

"Wade has been massively out of sorts for a while. He pops up every so often with a great performance only to regress shortly after. His action isn’t as reliable as in previous years and that’s a worry for legion of fans."

Wade has been massively out of sorts for a while. He pops up every so often with a great performance only to regress shortly after. His action isn't as reliable as in previous years and that's a worry for legion of fans. For James to progress he'll need a huge spike in form to topple Taylor.

Phil was in all sorts of bother against Robbie Green, but as we've seen over the last three decades, the Power found a way. Phil had to rely on green missing but he applied enough pressure for that to happen.

Can Wade win? Of course he can, but I believe Phil is playing so much better under pressure than James that this could be a rout. Like my previous selection, the match treble seems the way to go - Wade hasn't hit a maximum in twelve legs and his highest checkout has been 65.

Gerwyn Price v Jamie Hughes

I'm a follower of form, I like those playing well now and Gerwyn Price firmly falls into that category.

The Welshman has looked excellent so far, his standard has been very high, a little better than in recent times, he's coming good at the right time with the World Championships only a month away. He can consider himself a little unfortunate to not already be through to the knockout stage. Price gave Raymond Van Barneveld just one too many opportunities and got punished royally, I'm of the opinion here that he can give Hughes as many chances as he likes, Hughes won't take them.

I'm extremely surprised how poor Jamie has played, he was a group stage winner this time last year, so far this term he's only won one leg. Against Steve Lennon he looked disinterested and unfocused. If he's as poor in this match he'll not win a leg.

He's already eliminated, stuck to the foot of the table, he's just playing for a confidence boost, Gerwyn on the other hand needs to win to keep his hopes alive.

The bet here has to be the match treble for Gerwyn. To win, highest finish and most 180's.
