The PDC World Darts continues at Ally Pally this afternoon and Wayne Mardle believes Andy Hamilton is the best bet on what promises to be a great day of 'arrers...
"I'm of the opinion that Andy will be too good for Joe when it really matters, in the moments that need that experienced approach Hamilton can still do a job."
Andy Hamilton v Joe Murnan
Live on Sky Sports Darts
Let's not beat around the bush, Andy Hamilton isn't the relentless tank of a player he once was. He's now a spoiler, someone who if taken lightly will beat you, a player you underestimate at your peril.
So why has The Hammer drifted outside the world's top 24? He's just not as consistent as he once was, pair that with the new breed of player we are seeing.
Joe Murnan is a player that on his day is very capable indeed, and has proved when he's fully on his game he has enough fire power to win a ranked event. Apart from a win on tour his all round results over the year have been very poor, however.
He cannot be happy with the hard draw he's been dealt.
Joe will need to have one of his ON days if he's to dismantle Hamilton.
I'm of the opinion that Andy will be too good for Joe when it really matters, in the moments that need that experienced approach Hamilton can still do a job.
