Premier League Darts - Night 15
Friday 4 September
It's still anyone's guess as to who will make the play-offs in the Premier League, with just two nights of action remaining.
Glen Durrant has booked his place and Gary Anderson is virtually guaranteed a spot, but the next two positions could be claimed by anyone from Peter Wright, Nathan Aspinall, Michael van Gerwen and Gerwyn Price. Only two points separates Wright in third place and Price in sixth.
There is now no clear favourite to win the tournament, with Anderson, Van Gerwen and Wright all priced at 4.03/1. Durrant is not far behind in the betting at 4.57/2, with Aspinall at 11.010/1 and Price at 17.016/1.
Aspinall average will endure against motivated Gurney
Daryl Gurney 3.55/2 v Nathan Aspinall 1.824/5; The Draw 5.14/1
Start time 19:10
Gurney remains the only player who cannot make the play-offs. Rather than down tools, Gurney played with a sense of freedom in a 7-7 draw with Price on Thursday.
Considering Aspinall lost 7-5 to Gurney last week, his price looks a little short. Instead, let's back his average to hold up and for Aspinall to score over 97.5 at 5/6 on the Sportsbook. Aspinall has broken this total in six of the eight nights since the Premier League returned.
Wright will outscore opponent
Glen Durrant 2.747/4 v Peter Wright 2.186/5; The Draw 5.14/1
Start time 19:55
The two drew 6-6 when they last met. Durrant has now drawn three of this last four games, with his level having just dropped a little, but his battling qualities remaining intact.
Wright is playing better than anyone in the Premier League at this moment. He's too short to win against a player with Durrant's record, so back Wright to score the most 180s at 1.834/5.
Value lies with Anderson
Gary Anderson 2.727/4 v Michael van Gerwen 2.166/5; The Draw 5.39/2
Start time 20:40
Anderson is now unbeaten in six (W5 D1), which includes a 7-4 victory over Van Gerwen.
As was the case for MVG when he played Durrant yesterday, his position as favourite is based on past achievements rather than current form. The value is with Anderson and he's 2.26/5 in the Draw No Bet market.
Price can put Smith out of his misery
Michael Smith 2.89/5 v Gerwyn Price 2.111/10; The Draw 5.14/1
Start time 21:25
Smith was beaten 8-2 by Anderson on Thursday and looked like a player that had accepted that he will be eliminated from the competition. His average of 89.67 was the lowest of the night by some distance.
Price had to dig deep to take a draw against a motivated Gurney. He simply must win this one to ensure that he stays in contention and looks good value at 2.111/10 to do just that.
