Premier League Darts - Night Twelve
Sunday 30 August
Live on Sky Sports Action
There has been a major shakeup in the odds for the Premier League Darts winner, which reflects just how competitive and close things are.
Michael van Gerwen suffered another defeat on Saturday night, when he was beaten 8-4 by Gerwyn Price. MVG still leads the betting, but is now out to 3.613/5, with the Premier League leader Glen Durrant and Peter Wright both at 5.04/1.
Durrant drew 7-7 with Gary Anderson on Saturday, but still holds a four point lead at the top of the Premier League. There is now only two points between second placed Nathan Aspinall and Michael Smith in seventh, with eighth placed Daryl Gurney easily able to get back into contention, after his 8-6 win over Wright.
Aspinall has strong record against Anderson
Nathan Aspinall 2.3411/8 v Gary Anderson 2.588/5; The Draw 4.84/1
Start time 18:45
Aspinall's 8-6 win over Smith saw him move up to second place in the table and his record against Anderson should make him confident. He's won three of their five encounters (D1 L1), with the pair drawing 6-6 when they last met in the Premier League back in March.
That draw and Anderson's recent good form, suggests that it makes sense to back Aspinall cautiously. Aspinall is 1.768/11 in the Draw No Bet market.
Wright will win 180s war
Peter Wright 2.111/10 v Gerwyn Price 2.829/5; The Draw 5.04/1
Start time 19:30
Price's victory over Van Gerwen was his third win from his last four matches. Wright looks set to be tough opposition though and it's no surprise that he's favourite.
Even in defeat to Gurney on Saturday, Wright averaged 103.07 and had a decent checkout percentage of 42.86%. He hit nine 180s in that match and is 1.814/5 to score the most 180s.
Smith is the treble 20 king
Michael van Gerwen 1.834/5 v Michael Smith 3.613/5; The Draw 5.04/1
Start time 20:15
Van Gerwen has now lost three of his last four Premier League games, so backing him at odds-on is not at all attractive.
Instead look towards these two heavy scorers to break the total of over 8.5 180s at 2.111/10. Smith hit another seven 180s in his defeat to Aspinall on Friday.
Duzza will get back to winning ways
Glen Durrant 1.834/5 v Daryl Gurney 3.55/2; The Draw 5.14/1
Start time 21:00
Gurney has been much better since the Premier League returned. He might have left himself with too much to do to make the play-offs, but three wins in the last five matches in a massive improvement having failed to win any of his first six games (D2 L4).
Despite Gurney's revival, Durrant looks good value at these odds. He showed real mental strength to fight back and grab a somewhat undeserved draw against Anderson. Durrant's consistency should see him get back to winning ways at 1.834/5.
