PDC World Championship Tips: History Maker continues to be underrated

Dolan continues to be overpriced despite facing inexperienced opponent.

Jaymes Monte picks out his best bets from day three of the PDC World Championships...

"Dolan, a two-time Major semi-finalist this season, has continually been overpriced in recent months."

If you've followed my previews over the last few tournaments you'll be aware of my opinion on Brendan Dolan. And you'll know that the Layers out there do not share those thoughts.

Dolan, a two-time Major semi-finalist this season, has continually been overpriced in recent months. And there's no letting up in that trend heading into this tournament. The Northern Irishman begins his World Championship this Sunday against world number 73 Mark Jones.

Jones qualified for Alexandra Palace in the penultimate position afforded to the top 16 players in the ProTour Order of Merit, who had not already qualified. By finishing in 46th position in the rankings, with winnings of just £7,000 for the year, 42-year-old Jones will make his debut at the world championships.

And the odds offered about a Dolan win? Incredibly they're as big as 1.331/3. I'm almost certain that if this were any other player in the world's top 20, then we'd be looking at 1.21/5 or shorter. I doubt that you will have seen a better 1.331/3 shot this year.

Understandably, there are some not too keen on backing 1.330/100 shots, but the Match Odds prices do have an automatic knock on effect to the Handicap and Correct Score markets, which is where we can back Dolan at even bigger odds.
