PDC World Championship Tips: Grab the Bull by the horns

The Bull has years of experience to fall back on.

Day two of the PDC World Championships and the first of five afternoon sessions throughout the tournament...

"The draw has been kind to Jenkins, and if he gets it right this winter he could yet make a run to the quarter-finals, at least."

Back Jenkins to win 3-0 @ 3.211/5

It's the second time in three years that Terry Jenkins and Steve Brown meet at Alexandra Palace, and the third time in two years that they meet in a Major tournament.

Jenkins makes no secret of the fact that he is no longer as focussed on his game as he once was. The Bull is more inclined to spend time seeking out antiques than practising at the oche these days and has consequently slipped to number 10 in the world rankings, with a further drift down the standings in the pipeline if he does not come close to replicating his semi-final run of two years ago here.

However, Brown's recent form isn't particularly encouraging either, and I get the impression that he is also much more focussed on his Darts Academy than his own game at present.

But unlike Jenkins, Brown doesn't have the years of experience and guile to fall back on. The Bull has shown at the World Matchplay and UK Open earlier this year that he can still pull performances out of the top draw on occasion.

The draw has been kind to Jenkins, and if he gets it right this winter he could yet make a run to the quarter-finals, at least, and prolong his stay in the world's top 10.

Neither of these two players will look back fondly upon their time spent at the oche in 2012, but Jenkins is a seasoned pro, and an extremely good one at that. I fancy him to swat off the attentions of Brown with consummate ease, making a punt on 3-0 Jenkins my bet of the day at odds of 3.211/5.
