The first round of the PDC World Championship continues at Ally Pally on Monday night, and our man Wayne Mardle fancies the experienced Robert Thornton to come through a tough match against one of the PDC's new guys...
"I'm convinced this will go to a fifth set and then The Thorn asserts and crosses the line, well, that's how I see it."
Robert Thornton v Alan Norris
Live on Sky Sports Darts
I'm a fan of The Thorn, he plays the game how it should be played, he just gets on with it, does his own thing, doesn't play silly games and relies on his own ability to win matches.
Ditto for Alan Norris of all that's listed above. I think this could be one of the ties of the first round.
Alan is just starting to find his feet in the PDC, he is without doubt a talented player with lots to offer. A recent winner on tour too.
This match will almost certainly come down to one or two crucial moments, a miss? Or a moment of genius?
Like I've stated these two play in a similar manner, but they also play a similar game, score well and are both first dart merchants, when that first dart goes in they group around it, but what Robert has over Alan is composure, from what I've noticed about Norris is that under pressure he can just up the tempo and throw too quick sometimes.
I'm convinced this will go to a fifth set and then The Thorn asserts and crosses the line, well, that's how I see it.
