Jaymes Monte is looking to make it three from three recommended bets at the Grand Slam of Darts this week...
"Between them Anderson and O’Shea hit a total of eight 180s"
A nervy win for Kevin Painter and an emphatic triumph for Brendan Dolan mean that we were two from two over the weekend, and at healthy odds. Tonight's matches don't appear to offer up as much value in the Match Odds markets as the winners from yesterday afternoon face off, so we'll need to delve a little deeper.
On paper Group E was always going to be the trickiest one to call and so it proved on Sunday afternoon with both matches being won in a deciding leg. Current and former world champions Adrian Lewis and John Part the two to lose out to Tony O'Shea and Gary Anderson respectively.
Between them Anderson and O'Shea hit a total of eight 180s, with Silverback contributing five in what was the most impressive display of power-hitting in the Grand Slam so far.
Such is the reputation of these two players that Betfair's standard Over/Under 180s bar has been moved up from 3.5 to 4.5. Over 4.5 180s can be backed at odds of 2.35/4, with Under 4.5 at 1.68/13.
It is, perhaps, an obvious bet given the way that they each pummelled the treble 20 bed on Sunday. But with neither player too fond of switching down the board, and a close, and therefore long, match expected, Over 4.5 180s is my bet of the night.
