"A player of Montgomery's quality is bound to put it all together at some point on the big stage, and this year he has a little extra incentive."

Ross Montgomery has an awful Lakeside record. And he'll be the first to admit it. But a player of his quality is bound to put it all together at some point on the big stage, and this year he has a little extra incentive.

The Scottish veteran of the BDO stage had a very public spat with PDC co-founder and director Tommy Cox. After the TV schedule was announced and 'Ross The Boss' learned that his match had been brought forward, Cox tweeted "One bonus for the BBC, the new deal and the switched games means they will be able to cover the traditional first round exit of Ross the Boss."

"And not nice of him to continually deride the PDC and anyone who crosses over, especially not nice from one who has won 0."

Montgomery, who has in fact won 14 titles in his career, including the prestigious Zuiderduin Masters, didn't take kindly to the comments and has now reported the matter to the PDPA for a breach of DRA rules. The Scot also suggested that the comments will only serve to fire him up even more so this week.

This Sunday he faces Lakeside debutant Phillip 'Pip' Blackwell who has enjoyed a surge up the BDO rankings in the past 12 months with a couple of final appearances at some of the BDO's smaller events. Success in the bigger events on the circuit has, however, been extremely limited and to see these two players both priced at around 2.01/1 is quite a surprise to me, despite Montgomery's poor record here.
