We're approaching the business end of the BDO World Championships and Jaymes Monte has picked his best bet from Wednesday's action...
"Based on previous results and what we have seen so far this week this looks to be a coin toss."
Geert de Vos produced one of the best performances of the first round when we backed him to beat Dutchman Remco van Eijden on Monday. The Belgian came in with a 93.21 three-dart average as a comfortable 3-1 winner, and now goes on to meet number 4 seed Scott Mitchell, who (averaging 92.55) also impressed in a 3-2 win over Tony O'Shea that went all the way to a sudden death leg where Scotty Dog lost the 'bull off' but still won the leg and match.
So it looks as though we're in for a cracking contest this Wednesday evening and with other seeded players Martin Phillips and Jeffrey De Graaf already eliminated from this quarter, each will see this as a real opportunity to reach the semi-finals and perhaps beyond.
This will only be the third time that these two have crossed paths in major tournaments, and the head-to-head currently reads as one win apiece, with each previous match-up being won in a deciding set. So neither player can claim any sort of psychological advantage.
Based on previous results and what we have seen so far this week this looks to be a coin toss. And so with De Vos available to back at a relatively big 2.47/5, compared to Mitchell's 1.625/8, he has to be the one to side with as a very good value bet this Wednesday evening.
Back Geert de Vos to beat Scott Mitchell @ 2.47/5
