Fury beat Wilder in 2020 after drawing first bout

British heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury is being backed to beat Deontay Wilder again in their fight on 10 October but a bout against Anthony Joshua looks a long way off, says Max Liu...

Fury was in negotiations with fellow Brit Anthony Joshua's team to set up the heavy-weight title fight the world wants to see. That was until Joshua lost his WBA, WBO and IBF belts to Oleksandr Usyk on Saturday.

Tyson Fury is the favourite on the Exchange to win his fight against Deontay Wilder when the two heavyweights meet for the third time in the early hours of 10 October.

Betfair Exchange bettors make the Brit 1.454/9 to win and is 2.01/1 to do so via a knockout.

Fury was the winner when he fought Wilder in February 2020, sensationally stopping the American in the seventh round with a performance for the ages.

Prior to that they had drawn their first bout, although most fight fans agreed Fury deserved to win.

Now Wilder has the chance to win back the WBC belt but bettors are down on his chances with the 35-year-old 3.613/5 on the Exchange.

He made plenty of excuses following his defeat to Fury last year and now has a new trainer in Malik Scott. Wilder is promising a devastating knockout - an outcome that can be backed at 4.47/2.

Joshua defeat a big blow to Fury bout

Fury was in negotiations with fellow Brit Anthony Joshua's team to set up the heavy-weight title fight the world wants to see. That was until Joshua lost his WBA, WBO and IBF belts to Oleksandr Usyk on Saturday.

Boxing promoter Frank Warren said Fury watched Joshua's defeat to Usyk and saw "a big fight going down the drain." The outcome dealt a massive blow to the chances of Fury and Joshua getting in the ring together any time soon.

Usyk and Joshua are now expected to set up a rematch in the early part of 2022 as the Brit looks to reclaim the belts he lost last weekend.

Usk's victory was a reminder that even the best fighters can take nothing for granted and, between now and next weekend, Fury will focus exclusively on beating Wilder for the second time.

Defeat would be disastrous for the Brit but the odds indicate that's unlikely to happen.
