World Cup Poems: Day 28
World Cup Poem

One pitch, one ball, one team of three officials Game on...
Referees are human and humans make mistakes. But what if there was a way of the man in the middle not making mistakes...
CECI N'EST PAS UN GOAL
With an absurdity
Magritte himself could not have bettered,
Refereeing decisions are more accurately made
By observers a million miles away from the action.
2010, the last World Cup
To be officiated by mere mortals perhaps
(unless ostriches really do bury their heads in sand).
2014, the first World Cup to be refereed by robots.
