Ferdinand leaves England's camp on crutches after suffering a knee injury following a collision with Emile Heskey

England shift to fourth favourites in World Cup odds after training ground collision rules Manchester United defender out of tournament. Michael Dawson will take his place.

Michael Dawson, who earlier today opened up about his pain at missing out on a place in the squad to Sky Sports, will now travel to South Africa to replace the Manchester United defender.

Dawson had said: "I was gutted not to get a chance to play in the two games or get a run-out in either of them, that was a big disappointment for me.

"I had thought Mr Capello would want to have a look at me, but the manager makes his decision and you have to respect them. I was devastated not to get any time on the field."
