World Series Baseball Betting Game Six: Back Phillies to set up Cliff-hanger

MLB RSS / Nick Shiambouros / 04 November 2009 / Leave a comment

The Philadelphia Phillies sent the World Series back to New York with an 8-6 victory over the Yankees on Monday night. Now we're set for a thrilling game six and Nick Shiambouros selects the best bets.

"The Yankees are expected to finish off Philadelphia tonight to win the World Series but I think this series could go to a Game 7."

Once again Cliff Lee pitched superbly for Philadelphia in their crucial victory on Monday. His powerful display compounds my belief that Lee is the most effective pitcher in the series.

The Philadelphia hitters jumped all over A.J. Burnett in the early going scoring five runs before Yankee coach Joe Giradi ended his night in the third inning.

New York did stage a rally late in the game but the Phillies held on for a comfortable win.

The series stands at 3-2 in favour of New York and the Yankees will try to win the series on Wednesday evening in front of their home crowd.

Andy Pettitte
has the responsibility of pitching for New York in this pressure situation. This 37-year-old will be pitching on three days rest but has a record of 3-0 in the play-offs.
I am a little concerned about the decision to start Pettitte as he must be feeling the effects of his recent exertions. He is not a power pitcher so he has to show pinpoint accuracy.

Philadelphia start veteran Pedro Martinez who pitched very well in defeat in Game 2 on Thursday. Martinez has a huge variety of pitches and has tremendous command. If he can last six innings then I think Philadelphia could win this game.

The Yankees are expected to finish off Philadelphia tonight to win the World Series but I think this series could go to a Game 7. The Phillies never give up and their gritty determination is a huge reason why they are in this position.

I think the [2.88] on offer on Philadelphia is more than fair in a game that could be decided by one mistake.

A Game 7 on Thursday would be the perfect end to an incredible World Series.
