Having studied the three British jumps cards, Timeform's Jimmy Cooper has found two he wants to be with and one he wants to be against...
"The Carlisle fences have long since been recognised as one of the easiest tests of jumping, so at likely reasonable odds, it’s worth chancing Locked Inthepocket."
Mares' novice hurdles are quite often high in quantity but low in quality, and the 3.25 at Newton Abbot looks no exception. It's relatively easy to put a line through half a dozen of these, so the case for Misstree Dancer is there for all to see. The selection sets a clear standard on what she's achieved, and was most unlucky to fall at Leicester in January having travelled with a degree of comfort. She will find this easier than the handicap she contested off a mark of 110 last time, and the step back up in trip looks certain to suit.
The next race on the Newton Abbot card has only attracted a field of five, and there are reasons for opposing the Victor Dartnall-trainedRichard's Sundance. Whilst it has to be said Richard's Sundance has comfortably achieved the most of these over fences, something clearly wasn't right at Wincanton last week given how quickly he folded. Any ease in the ground will help his cause, but turned out quickly, he looks one to be against.
Over at Carlisle (4.45), it may be worth chancing chase debutant Locked Inthepocket on the back of a career-best effort over hurdles last month. The six-year-old drew right away with a subsequent winner on that occasion, and the race has worked out well. The Carlisle fences have long since been recognised as one of the easiest tests of jumping so, at likely reasonable odds, Locked Inthepocket is worth an investment.
