Middleton Dene is far superior to these rivals over hurdles, but he could be worth opposing following his laboured effort over fences at Carlisle in October. Donald McCain's yard has hit top gear of late and Vasodilator could offer better value than Riguez Dancer.

Cloisters Hill has no form over jumps, including in points.

Helvic Head had a couple of good placed efforts over fences in 2008/9, but changed hands cheaply after losing his way last summer (tried tongue tied/in cheekpieces) and he has plenty to prove here.

Middleton Dene is the best of these over hurdles, contesting top handicaps by the end of 2008/9. He was lacklustre in all departments on his chasing debut at Carlisle in October, however, and more aptitude for the job is needed now.

Riguez Dancer had a good strike rate on Flat/hurdles for Patrick Haslam. He was ridden with less dash than usual when the runner-up on a completed start over fences for his new yard and he remains capable of better in this sphere.

Vasodilator was a ready winner of a 2½m maiden hurdle at Bangor in April. He was not disgraced in the face of a stiff task in a handicap on his belated return last month and he has fair claims if his jumping comes up to scratch now going chasing.
