Kempton's placepot yesterday proved too difficult for the Jumps boys to crack, the trappy novice handicap chase that made up the second leg proving their downfall. However, twenty-four hours on and Team All-weather will attempt to get those losses back on the evening card at the Sunbury venue.
"Lord of the Reins is making into a handy tool over course and distance and a 2 lb rise for his win over Glamorous Spirit last time looks lenient on what the runner-up has achieved since."
5.50 - With no discernable draw bias over 10f at Kempton, the way the race is run is likely to have a key impact on the result. New World Order wouldn't be sure to get an uncontested lead with Rosy Dawn in the line-up but he has to be included off just 1 lb higher than when touched off by Thunderstruck at Wolverhampton in November. He shaped as if in good form but didn't quite last home over 12f at this course last time. Alfredtheordinary is also included, as, though he rarely gets his head in front, he's been placed on almost half of his all-weather starts, including his last four. Completing the trio for the first leg is Carr Hall who was a good second for Brendan Powell when last seen in January and makes his first start for the all-conquering Tony Carroll yard.
6.20 - Wetherby Place has shown more than enough in five starts for Michael Wigham this year to suggest she's capable of winning a little handicap, already placed three times. Her latest run at Wolverhampton is best ignored after she met with interference in the straight and she should be in the shake up. Binnion Bay looks weighted up to his best after winning at Lingfield last month, but he's more reliable than most of these so is selected as back up.
6.50 - Things are going well if we've made it this far so no time for anything fancy, and the Geoffrey Boycott straight bat is called for with the three-year-olds at the bottom of the racecard. Texan Star looked a maiden winner in waiting when second on his debut and, though he's not been since since running as if amiss at Glorious Goodwood, connections evidently retain faith in this Derby entrant. Jumeirah Palm also shaped as if she'll be winning sooner rather than later after her encouraging debut and a step up in trip will be in her favour.
7.20 - A trappy sprint where it's best to ensure we don't end up with all our eggs (or lines) in one basket, so we'll take one that goes from the front and one that is held up. Wotashirtfull is better drawn and/or has the advantage of race fitness over fellow front-runners Sherjawy and Ocean Blaze so we'll include him. Lord of The Reins is making into a handy tool over course and distance and a 2 lb rise for his win over Glamorous Spirit last time looks lenient on what the runner-up has achieved since.
7.50 - A poor imitation of a race that was billed as a Kentucky Derby trial last year. With the need to keep lines down, and with her rivals with experience looking much of a muchness, we'll take Middle Club'sclass and listed form to shine through. Banking on her is a safer option than trying to second guess which of the Mark Johnston Russian recruits to include alongside her.
8.20 - A kinder last leg would have been nice, as very few could be ruled out, or in for that matter, with confidence. War of The Roses at least comes here fit and well and on the back of a confidence-boosting win in claiming company and he still figures on a potentially lenient mark. Similar comments apply to Turjuman who won with something in hand over course and distance earlier in the month and his trainer remains in good form.
