Clive Brittain has plenty of reasons to be cheerful with his string beginning the season in fine form
Timeform highlights three trainers who have been in form in February...
"Clive Brittain often has his horses ready and raring to go early on in the year and since 2006 the yard has shown a level stakes profit in February every year bar one."
David Barron has his yard in fine form on the all weather, and has sent out seven winners from eighteen runners in a fruitful February. The North Yorkshire handler has been prolific on the fibresand at Southwell sending out four winners and a second from just seven entries in the last fortnight. The purple-patch was highlighted with a double at Southwell on the 16th of February, Fuzzy Cat and Flores Sea both coming home in front. David Barron's horses have already notched up seven wins at the Nottinghamshire venue in the first two months of the year.
Clive Brittain often has his horses ready and raring to go early on in the year and since 2006 the yard has shown a level stakes profit in February every year bar one. This year is no exception, as the stable has an impressive 33% strike rate with five wins coming from just fifteen runners. The feature was Mahadee winning a competitive handicap at Wolverhampton. The Newmarket handler is one to follow leading up to the Winter Derby.
Paul Nicholls looks to have his horses revved up in the build up to the Cheltenham Festival. After a quiet Januray the Ditcheat team have come out of the cold, and in the last fortnight have registered eight wins from twenty-seven runners. It hasn't been all good news though, the fall of Denman in the Aon Chase a disappointment, but this was offset by the return of Master Minded, who blitzed his rivals in the Game Spirit Chase on the same card. The emergence of some potentially good novices in the shape of Sang Bleu, Najaf and Sanctuaire has strengthened the Nicholls arsenal for the spring campaign even further.
