Timeform have selected an eye-catcher from the all-weather action at Wolverhampton last Monday.

"The gelded son of exciting young sire Shamardal impressed with the manner of his two-and-a-half lengths success, travelling well in the lead and readily going clear turning in."

The Michael Bell-trained Burghley made a highly encouraging start to his career when landing a seven-furlong maiden at Wolverhampton last Monday and looks one to put in the notebook. He readily brushed aside a trio of promising once-raced performers, with the William Muir-trained Paintball, who finished third, franking the form when landing a Southwell maiden four days later. The gelded son of exciting young sire, Shamardal, impressed with the manner of his two-and-a-half lengths success, travelling well in the lead and readily going clear turning in, with Hayley Turner just having to keep him focused in the final furlong as he idled, value for much more than the bare margin of success. With plenty of speed on the dam's side of his pedigree (dam placed in Cheveley Park Stakes), there is a chance that Burghley could prove best around at around the trip which he began his career over, but, irrespective of how far he stays, he looks a useful tool for Michael Bell to go to war with.
