Timeform's Adam Daley picks an eyecatcher from last weeks all-weather action.
"The son of Shamardal looks a useful performer in the making, one who may not prove far short of listed/Group class in time"
It is not often that you see a horse owned by the Queen racing around the all-weather tracks in the depth of winter, but despite her High Constable being sent to Wolverhampton to break his maiden at the second attempt, that's not to say the three-year-old won't be competing in more high-profile surroundings this year.
The Roger Charlton-trained colt has a big home reputation, causing him to be sent off at odds of 1/2 on his debut at the same track, though he was restricted by greenness, and had to settle for third. Just a month later, the regally-bred High Constable was stepped up in trip, an ideal move judged by pedigree, and he duly produced an impressive performance, scoring with much more in hand than the three-and-a-half length margin would suggest. The son of Shamardal looks a useful performer in the making, one who may not prove far short of listed/Group class in time, while he should prove a formidable opponent in handicap company, with that likely to be his next port of call.
