Straight sets victory backed at [28.0] as elder Williams sister eclipses the younger
Venus Williams picked up £750,000 for her straight sets victory over sister Serena - and that win will have proved profitable for the Betfair backers who took Venus to win 2-0 at in-running odds of [28.0].
Serena held advantages in both sets and it seemed as if Centre Court was primed for an epic with three sets backed at [1.24] on the exchange.
But it wasn't to be and Venus - backed at a high of [8.0] on the overall winners' market and [3.9] in the final match odds - broke her sister to land the second set.
Serena was backed at a low of [1.33] to win the match.
