Live Wimbledon Blog RSS / Joe Dyer / 26 June 2008 / Leave a comment

Joe Dyer is live at his desk in Betfair Towers watching the action from Wimbledon. Keep in touch with the latest happenings from SW19 here

18.20: The Brit holds serve but I've cracked - I'm off, good luck to him and to you too.

18.15: Chris Eaton has taken to the court to face Tursunov - he's lost the first game and is a [7.2] shot for victory.

18.02: Another SHOCKER! Blake is out, beaten in five sets by Rainer Schuettler.

17.54: SHOCKER! Sharapova is out - backed at [1.02] in the market to win but beaten in straight sets.

17.48: Shazza is serving to stay in the tournament here at 5-4 in the second set.

17.41: Sharapova is really playing with her backers' emotions. Two break points have offered to her opponent, neither taken but this is not dominant stuff.

17.30: Instead of pulling away Shrapova has been broken and trails 4-2 in the second set. We could be on the verge of a major upset but Shara's rallying - she has two break points on her opponent's serve.

17.10: Blake and Schuettler are having a battle royale on court three, we're into the fifth set and it's one game all.

17.02: Upset alert! Shazza's lost the first.

16.56: Sharapova has been broken in the first set yet still trades at [1.28] to win, I might pile in.

16.44: Hilarity on Centre Court, as hawkeye breaks down. Murray wins the challenge after a short delay to take the match. A few yards away Maria Sharapova - [1.16] - is getting underway against Alla Kudryavtseva.

16.09: Oh dear, no sooner has he broken the Scotsman than he's broken back. Murray takes the second. Nadal has beaten Gulbis.

16.02:Malisse has decided to put up a fight - Murray is broken to take the score to 4-2 in the second. Xavier will need to hold serve and break again to make this really interesting though.

15.49: Murray takes first set and breaks immediately to commence the second.

15.38: Nadal has landed the third with a tie-break win and now trades at [1.07] for the win. Meanwhile, Murray's broken Malisse and James Blake is wobbling, having lost the first set to Rainer Schuettler, the second appears tie-break bound.

15.24: Andy Murray's on court, will he put us through the mill Henman-style? Let's hope so. At [1.19] he's an appealing lay.

15.19: After going toe-to-toe with Nadal throughout the third set Gulbis is in danger of throwing it all away - he's 30-15 down on serve at 5-5...

15.03: Seed exit alert! Zvonareva, 13th seed, has gone - beaten in three sets by Tamarine Tanasugarn.

14.58: Apologies for the break, I was getting the teas in! In my absence, Our Anne has exited Wimbers, beaten at the hands of Venus Williams - very much a potential champ and at [6.2], surely worth a punt.

14.35: Nadal has roared back into it, taking the second set 6-2. What were the [1.69] layers thinking?!

14.22: Sania Mirza is out, somehow backed at a low [1.13] during her match with Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez.

14.18: That's what makes the top players so good, Venus gets one bite at the cherry and takes it, wrapping up the first set 7-5.

14.11: 'Our Anne' is battling bravely, 5-5 in the first set and really testing Venus. Meanwhile, Rafa holds serve in the second but Gulbis is looking menacing.

14.00: Well, well, well. Gulbis has a set point on Nadal's serve AND CONVERTS! The Spaniard has gone from [1.06] to [1.41].

13.50: Venus finally holds serve. Men's second seed Rafael Nadal is involved in a tussle with Ernests Gulbis, it's currently 6-5 and seemingly heading towards a tie-break.

13.43: Now it's Venus' time to struggle on serve, Anne has had advantage a couple of times without being able to convert.

13.30: Anne and Venus locked in deuce-land on Anne's serve. Still 2-1 Venus.

13.20: British hope Anne Keothavong kicked off by losing her serve but she's now broken Venus Williams back. Take that America!

13.10: Zvonareva and Tanasugarn are in a marathon tie-break tussle with set points-a-go-go untuil the Thai takes it 12-10. Meanwhile Mirza is putting on a comeback - having traded at [26.0] - she's in to [1.7]...

12.45: Another seed in danger is Sania Mirza, one set down and trailing in the second Spaniard Martinez Sanchez. Mirza trades at [13.5]...
Tanasugarn has been pegged back, but just has a service game to land the first set.

12.35: Betfair tipster Ben Caudell highlighted the claims of Tamarine Tanasugarn in his excellent daily betting guide.

She's 4-1 up the first set against Vera Zvonreva and trading at [1.74] for the win.
