"Federer has a 6-0 head-to-head series lead over the towering Argentine, the only match played on outdoor hard was a 6-3 6-0 6-0 win for the Swiss at this year's Australian Open. Since then Del Potro has improved immensely and came close to defeating Federer at the 2009 French Open semi-finals, losing 6-4 in the fifth set."
Federer hasn't lost since 2003 at the US Open and though Juan Martin Del Potro is in great form, another final should go the way of the Swiss says Ben Caudell
Roger Federer (SWI) v Juan Martin Del Potro (ARG)
Both players comfortably made it through to tonight's men's US Open singles final yesterday.
Federer overcame a determined Novak Djokovic who pushed the Swiss legend in all three sets but fell short at the decisive moments. At 5-6 down tin the final set and 0-30, Federer hit what he later described as the greatest shot he has ever hit in his life, a through the legs shot that passed the bewildered Djokovic at the net for a winner to give Federer match point.
It is no surprise to see Federer once again in a final at the US Open; he hasn't lost a match since the 2003 defeat by David Nalbandian. This now means the Swiss is 41-0 in matches at the US Open and is one match short of recording his sixth title in succession at Flushing Meadows.
Regarded as the greatest player of all time, Federer will still have a match on his hands when he plays Argentine Juan Martin Del Potro, the 21-year-old swept past Rafael Nadal in straight sets 6-2 6-2 6-2, this was Nadal's most lopsided defeat in his Grand Slam career and will definitely question his resolve to win future Grand Slams.

While I wouldn't be stunned if Del Potro was to win his first major tournament of his career here as he is striking the ball so well at the moment, Federer very rarely loses Grand Slam finals and knows what to expect when he walks out to the thunderous applause from the ever jubilant Flushing Meadows crowed. I expect Federer to win this in four...
