Andy Murray's rise to the big time will be confirmed on Monday when he enters the top 10 in the latest world rankings.
The 19-year-old's elevation comes after Croatian Ivo Karlovic ended German third seed Tommy Haas' hopes at the US Clay Court championships with a 7-6 (9-7) 6-4 victory in their quarter-final clash on Friday.
"I can't believe it," Murray told his website. "I've been working the last five years of my life to get here and it's finally happened. I'm in shock."
Murray is next in action on clay at the Masters Series event in Monte Carlo which begins on Monday.
Karlovic will face Albert Montanes in the last four after the Spaniard beat Vincent Spadea 6-4 6-4.
Second seed James Blake beat Juan Monaco 7-5 (7-5) 1-6 7-6 (7-0) to set up a semi-final against Mariano Zabaleta.
The Argentine reached the last four with a 6-1 6-2 win over last year's runner-up, Jurgen Melzer.
Blake is the 1.62 favourite to triumph in Houston, Texas, while Karlovic is trading at 4. Zabaleta can be backed at 4.5, while Montanes is the outsider on 5.2.
