Brad Gilbert, the coach of Andy Murray, has confirmed the world number 10 will miss the French Open because of injury.
The 20-year-old Scot damaged wrist tendons in his first-round match at the Hamburg Masters Series event earlier this week.
Murray will see a specialist on Monday to assess the extent of the problem but will not make Roland Garros, for which Spain's clay-court specialist, Rafael Nadal, is predictably the overwhelming 1.6 favourite in Betfair's outright winner market.
Gilbert told his official website: "He's pulled the plug on the clay court season and we're hoping he'll be back and ready to compete at Queen's in a few weeks."
Murray is now expected to take a complete break before turning his focus towards the grass court season, with Wimbledon, starting on June 25, the target for his comeback.
The French Open gets underway in Paris on May 27, with the Artois Championships starting at Queen's Club in London on June 11 ahead of Wimbledon.
Nadal is chasing a hat-trick of triumphs in France and comes into the tournament in-form following his successes in Monte Carlo, Barcelona and Rome. Last year he beat Swiss star, Roger Federer, who is next best in the winner market at 4.6.
