Andy Murray survived a last-set scare to beat Frank Dancevic 6-3 4-6 6-4 in the first round of the Memphis International.

The 19-year-old Scot, fresh from his San Jose Open success, was in inspired form as he took the first set but then lost his momentum as world number 95 Dancevic fought back.

Murray kept his nerve after falling 4-2 behind in the final set before claiming victory. He will climb higher than his current 13th spot in the world rankings if he goes one better than last year and makes it past the third round.

"I must give him credit," said Murray, last week's San Jose Open winner.
"I think he missed about two first serves in the whole of the second set and hardly missed a ball.

"I stopped serving as well. When I lost my serve at the start of the second set I lost my rhythm a little bit and he started playing well.
"But it's all about fighting and coming through those matches and I managed to do that really well."

Murray, who is now trading at 3.4 to win the tournament, will face Denmark's Kristian Pless, who he beat on his way to retaining his San Jose crown, in the second round.
Pless has only an outside chance of winning the Memphis International and is available at 50, while Andy Roddick remains the tournament favourite at 3.2, with Tommy Haas not far behind at 3.25.
