Tim Henman has warned Andy Murray not to risk playing in the French Open if there is any doubt over his injured wrist.
The 20-year-old Scot damaged tendons in his right wrist while leading Filippo Volandri 5-1 in the first set of his first-round match in Hamburg last week.
His coach Brad Gilbert ruled the youngster out of the Roland Garros showpiece only for Murray himself to announce that there is a small chance he could still feature in Paris.
But with the tournament set to begin on May 27, Henman feels his Davis Cup team-mate should concentrate on regaining full fitness before returning to the court.
"The wrist is such an important area in the game and there's a lot of strain on that area," said the former British number one.
"The most important thing is that when he comes back on the court he's 100%. There's no point in rushing."
Betfair customers cannot see past the 'big two' of Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer for the French Open, with the Spaniard trading as the 1.76 favourite and his conqueror in Hamburg on offer at 3.45.
Murray's price of 350 reflects his recent injury woe and the fact that he may not even make it to the French capital.
Henman, a semi-finalist at the French in 2004, is expecting to be competitive at the clay-court Grand Slam before returning to his favourite surface, and venue, later in the summer.
"In the last few tournaments I've played some really tough players and come up just a little bit short," Henman told Sky Sports News. "I don't think there's anything drastically wrong with my game.
"As soon as I've finished in Paris, it'll be back onto the grass, getting ready for Queen's and Wimbledon."
If Murray is ruled out of the year's second 'Slam there are still plenty of betting opportunities in Betfair's 'Murray Specials' section.
