Rafael Nadal made it 68 games without defeat on clay with a comfortable victory over Belgium's Kristof Vliegen in the Seat Open.
The Spaniard, in front of an adoring crowd in Barcelona, made light work of Vliegan and claimed a straight sets win after just an hour.
Nadal defeated the Belgian at the Monte Carlo event last week and was equally impressive in the 6-1 6-2 success.
The world number two admitted: "Maybe he came out with a bit of a negative attitude after last week.
"In Monte Carlo he fought to the end, but today it was quite easy, I did not have to play at that high a level."
The French Open champion faces Thomas Johansson in round three and is odds on at 1.02 to progress, with Johansson available at a massive 46.
Nadal is also the strong 1.23 favourite to win the Seat Open event, with Guillermo Canas (8) seen as his main challenger. Tommy Robredo is next best in the winner market, with the German trading at 23.
