The British number one looked in superb form in Florida en route to the semis but came dramatically unstuck against Novak Djokovic, who repeated his last-four Indian Wells victory over the Scot with a 6-1 6-0 demolition of the 19-year-old.

Despite back-to-back semi-finals defeats at the hands of the talented young Serbian, the Dunblane-born starlet has enjoyed a successful first three months of the campaign and looks at home against the majority of the world's best players.

He has already beaten the likes of Lleyton Hewitt and Andy Roddick this season and has allayed fears about his mental and physical strength by coming back from a set down to claim victory on several occasions.

Murray's next outing will be at the Davis Cup as Great Britain face the Netherlands in Birmingham and, despite initial concerns over his fitness, team captain John Lloyd revealed that he is fine and will play against the Dutch.

"He was keen to get on court," he said. "There does not appear to be a major problem and he will join up with the rest of the team as scheduled."

In a market yet to develop, GB are the 1.02 favourites to progress from the tie, with Tim Henman coming out of international retirement to help the cause, along with the evergreen Greg Rusedski, Murray's brother Jamie, Jamie Baker and Richard Bloomfield.

The Dutch are offered at 6 to pull off a shock at the NEC, with the opening two singles rubbers scheduled to get underway on Friday.

Djokovic has moved up three places to 7th in the rankings, after beating Roger Federer's conqueror Guillermo Canas 6-3 6-2 6-4 in the final on Sunday.
