Amelie Mauresmo has her eyes on the prize after cutting down Anna Chakvetadze in three sets to reach the final of the Proximus Diamond title in Antwerp.
The French top seed struggled though with a leg injury to record a 6-3 3-6 6-2 win over the Russian and remain in contention for an unusual present.
She had extra incentive to reach the final, however, as she can claim a diamond-studded racket awarded for three title wins in five years.
"Every match I win, (the racquet) is starting to be a little bit more on my mind," she said. "But the final will be the toughest one to win."
The world number three broke her opponent's serve in the seventh game before holding to secure the first set.
Chakvetadze fought back to take the second set after an early break.
But there were worrying signs for the Wimbledon champion, who seemed to be carrying a leg injury in the final set.
"I didn't return well, I had too many ups and downs," said Mauresmo. "I was really going forward to take control of the match."
Mauresmo, who is now 1.75 to lift the coveted trophy, already has back-to-back victories in Antwerp in 2005 and 2006.
