Top seed Amelie Mauresmo ruined home favourite Kim Clijsters' final competitive appearance on Belgian soil to win the Diamond Games.
Mauresmo, currently ranked third in the world, became the first player to win a hat-trick of Antwerp titles after a 6-4 7-6 (7-4) victory over Clijsters, and in doing so scooped a diamond-studded racquet trophy.
"I said all week I didn't think about it, but honestly I thought about it the whole week," said Mauresmo.
Clijsters, playing her last match in Belgium before retiring later in 2007, said of Mauresmo: "There is no better champion than you. I admire you in so many ways."
The WTA tour now moves on to the United Arab Emirates where Maursemo is due to compete for the Dubai Duty Free Singles title.
