Having won the two singles rubbers on Friday, Jonas Bjorkman teamed up with Thomas Johansson to defeat the South American pair of David Nalbandian and Guillermo Canas to secure a 3-0 unassailable lead.

Sweden have now made it to the last four for the first time in six years and Wilander was obviously delighted.

"It feels so good to be in the semifinal. We have worked so hard for this and the whole team really deserves this great win," Wilander said.

"We are really looking forward to the semi finals and it feels great to be a part of this big success".

Sweden will now face USA in the semi-finals in September, after Andy Roddick and co established an unassailable 3-0 lead themselves against Spain.

A market for the semi-finals will open up nearer the time, but the Americans are now strong favourites at 1.79 to lift the Cup, ahead of Russia at 4 and Germany at 6.2, with Sweden available at 6.6.
