Since that epic win at Flushing Meadows over Maria Sharapova, Radwanska has not had the chance to turn that victory into some proper momentum. She was eliminated in the first round at Luxembourg by another rising young player, Azarenka, and was unable to defend the title she won last year. So far at Stuttgart this year, she's shown the form that took her to a career high of number 32 and, if she carries on in the same vain, will have a chance of an upset this afternoon.

The head-to-head against Kuznetsova is firmly in the Russian´s favour, 2-0, and both wins came this year on grass and on a hardcourt. This is the first appearance of Kuznetosva on tour since the US Open, although she played in the Fed Cup final, which Russia won defeating Italy. Kuznetsova should be fresh and will want to use this chance to prepare for the end of season championships in Madrid. She is the better player and her form on hardcourts this season has been exceptional.

Radwanska is a fighter. She lost the first set against Bartoli 6-0 but then came back in the second and early part of the third on an 8-0 winning streak. She went on to win the match in 3 sets. The young Pole seems to play some of her best tennis at this time of the year. Last year she won at Luxembourg around this time and she is proving her pedigree is suitable to hard courts. There is no fear of Top 10 players, or well-established names as she's had more than a few run-ins with them and come out on top of a few good occasions eg Hingis, Sharapova and Venus Williams.
