Murray will be hoping to take part in the doubles rubber in April's showdown after picking up two ATP Tour doubles titles during the early part of this year.

Speaking to the BBC, he said: "(GB captain) John Lloyd told me that I will be in the six-man squad. It's the best thing to represent my country at the highest level and I'm excited to be part of the team."

Lloyd will have to unveil the squad by the March 27 deadline and can then select which combination of players competes against the Netherlands when the competition gets underway in Birmingham on April 6.

The 21-year-old could potentially team up with his brother Andy in the doubles and should that be the case they will become the first British siblings to pair up since John and David Lloyd represented the country in 1980.

Tim Henman and Greg Rusedski have also been included and Jamie Murray says he has no preference over who he features alongside as long as he gets a game.

"I have been thinking about this and it would be great to play with Andy for my country if I get in the final four," he added. "But I'm sure we'll have a lot of opportunities to do that in the future whereas the chance to play with Tim or Greg doesn't come around too often. I'm in a no-lose situation.

"Tim and Greg have been the top British guys for so many years that the chance to play with them is something I didn't see happening."

A market for the tie will open up nearer the time but there is sure to be plenty of interest, given the current good form of the younger Murray brother and Henman's return to the international set-up.
