Venus Williams took just 49 minutes to demolish Vasilisa Bardina 6-2 6-1 and book her place in the third round of the Family Circle Cup.
The big-hitting American was in no mood to hang around as she swept to a one-sided victory on a day when a host of top women's stars came out on top in Charleston.
"I definitely feel like my game is coming around," said Williams. "I'm playing good tennis.
"I think the only thing that holds me back sometimes is my errors. Sometimes I make a few too many errors, and that has been my issue the last two tournaments."
Williams is the overwhelming 1.08 favourite in an emerging Match Odds market to get the better of her third-round opponent, Yung Jan Chang (12).
Serbia's Jelena Jankovic also had little trouble in reaching the last 16 of the competition as she brushed past the Russian qualifier, Anastassia Rodionova, 6-1 6-1.
Fourth seed Dinara Safina beat Eleni Daniilidou 6-3 6-4, while France's Tatiana Golovin - who recently won her first tour title at the Bausch & Lomb Championships in Florida - destroyed American veteran Jill Craybas 6-0 6-1.
Williams has drifted slightly but is now the 5.1 joint favourite with Golovin in a developing outright Winner market to win the Family Circle Cup on home soil, with Jankovic trading just behind at 6.4.
