The 24th Zurich Open in Switzerland will again provide fans of women's tennis with plenty of betting opportunities at enticing odds as the big guns look to impress in what is arguably Europe's most important indoor tennis tournament on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour.
Stars to have previously landed the odds in the tournament include former world number ones - Justine Henin, Martina Hingis, Maria Sharapova, Lindsay Davenport, Venus Williams - plus Patty Schnyder - and the first thee have already confirmed their participation.
A bet on current world number one Justine Henin is likely to be popular when the tournament betting gets underway on October 13 as she looks to emulate her success of 2003.
Betting on the seven-time Grand Slam winner has reaped rewards this year with the odds landed in two more 'Slams. A bet at the French Open, where she beat Ana Ivanovic in the final was a shrewd one, while betting at the US Open was equally rewarding with her success over Svetlana Kuznetsova.
For those looking for betting omens, the last time Henin enjoyed success in the US she won in Zurich later that year, although a bet on her rivals is not forlorn hope as 2003 has been the Belgian ace's only appearance in the final to date.
Lindsay Davenport could be a good bet at decent odds as she has one of the best records in the competition. Her four wins and two second-place finishes is only bettered by Steffi Graf. However, those looking at a bet on the American should bear in mind her entry is by no means guaranteed and betting may not be available.
A bet on defending champion Maria Sharapova may provide good value with odds reflecting her indifferent form. She has just a solitary Tier 1 success this year but a bet on the Russian is always popular.
