The WTA Tour Championships starting on November 5 will again be staged in Madrid this year and should provide punters with plenty of betting opportunities.
Justine Henin justified her status as world number one and favouritism in the odds when she rewarded her loyal band of followers with a season-ending 6-4 6-3 victory over Amelie Mauresmo in the final.
The top seed would have landed the bets as she had never previously advanced past the semi-finals and had missed the previous two tournaments prior to 2006 because of injury.
The 2007 French and US Open champion will be the one to watch in the betting as she looks to defend her title in the Spanish capital.
Since failing to hold onto her 2005 crown, Mauresmo has endured a difficult 2007, which could be reflected in her odds when the markets develop.
The Frenchwoman, fresh from her Australian Open and Wimbledon triumphs, would have been expected to land all bets last year but the chance to make amends in 2007 could attract punters monitoring the betting.
Poster princess Maria Sharapova would have upset the odds in 2004 when she ended Kim Clijsters' stranglehold on the tournament and, after dropping out of the top two in the world rankings in September this year for the first time since 2006, will be keen to bring the curtain down on a stop-start 2007 with success.
The Florida-based 20-year-old will again be a popular bet for her huge army of followers.
Svetlana Kuznetsova, now the top-ranked Russian player on the tour ahead of Sharapova, would have landed many bets on her way to the final of the recent US Open.
Her odds are sure to be snapped up in Madrid but it is worth noting she crashed to Henin in a one-sided match at Flushing Meadows.
