Can Ramos upset Lopez today?
"Ramos has risen to an all-time high of 56 in the world rankings, thanks to some impressive wins in 2012, and he can be backed at [2.6]."
Ben Caudell explains why he's backing two outsiders today and anticipating a long match between Sam Querrey and Kevin Anderson...
At last, we finally have TV coverage for the Sony Ericsson Open to get a better idea of how the players and the Miami conditions are performing. You can watch in the UK from 15:00 with Betfair's Live streaming also accessible, giving you a vast array of courts to view.
Today, I have chosen three men's matches to get involved in, the first between left-handed Spaniards Albert Ramos and Feliciano Lopez. The younger of the pair, Ramos, has risen to an all-time high of 56 in the world rankings, thanks to some impressive wins in 2012 and he can be backed at [2.6].
Last week, in Indian Wells, he defeated Richard Gasquet in three sets to reach the third round; he also holds wins over top 30 players Juan Monaco, Juan Ignacio Chela and Fernando Verdasco.
Ramos obviously has a liking for left-handers, having won 14 of his last 15 against them. Furthermore, he's won 70% of his last 50 against fellow countrymen and has impressive form as an underdog, winning four wins of his last five (trading between [2.0] and [2.99]).
Sergei Bubka is another player who has a good chance of upsetting the odds today. He's [4.7] to defeat the enigmatic Gael Monfils and, on a good run of form, with three straight set wins so far in Miami (including qualifying) the Ukrainian has won five of his last six on hard-courts. He's up against a player who hasn't played a competitive match since January. My recommended bet would be to lay Monfils 2-0 @ [1.67].
My final recommendation is to back over 23.5 games in the match between two big servers Sam Querrey and Kevin Anderson. Querrey leads the head-to-head series 6-1 but all four outdoor hard court match-ups between the pair have gone to three sets, over the 23.5 game line.
Recommended Bets
Back Albert Ramos @ [2.6] to defeat Feliciano Lopez
Lay Monfils 2-0 @ [1.67] against Sergei Bubka
Back over 23.5 Games @ [2.0] Sam Querrey v Kevin Anderson
