David Ferrer beats Rafael 'The Bull' Nadal in Zaragoza showdown.
Following the success of the UK event at London's O2 Arena, Betfair Turbo Tennis landed in Spain with the cream of Iberian tennis talent slugging it out toe-to-toe.
World Number two Rafael Nadal was joined by two more French Open winners - Carlos Moya and Serge Bruguera - as well as David Ferrer, the world number 6 and form player coming into the tournament. Outgunned, but certainly not lacking in fight, were former Wimbledon champ Pat Cash and Swedish ATP Tour star Joachim Johansson who completed the six players vying for the $100,000 first prize.
The new 30 minute format - with sudden death points instead of deuces - levelled the playing field somewhat, but Cash and Johansson still found Moya and Bruguera too hot to handle.
In the semis, Moya was beaten by Nadal in a great match which you can watch below, while Ferrer took apart Bruguera to set up the final that most of the near-capacity 7,000+ had come to see.
It was a pulsating contest, and for a while the Spanish title looked like it would be settled by a sudden death point. But in what proved to be the deciding game, Ferrer broke 'the Bull' to take the inaugural Betfair Turbo Tennis crown, by 7 games to 5.
