The Banka Koper Slovenia Open, held in Portoroz, enters its third year when the WTA Tier IV tournament swings into action on September 17 and a host of opportunities will surely appeal for those fancying a bet.
Punters with bets on Austrian teenager Tamira Paszek last year were rewarded when she scooped the $145,000 event with a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Italian sixth seed Maria Elena Camerin and her odds, given her encouraging progress in 2007, are likely to be reflected in the betting.
She caused some movement in the Australian and French Open betting by reaching the second round but made more inroads at Wimbledon and the US Open, where her odds are sure to have shortened after making the fourth round.
In July 2007, she reached a career-high ranking of number 35 in the world and betting on her at this year's event could prove profitable.
Camerin, last year's beaten finalist, has confirmed her participation and she could prove a popular bet to go one better.
Her highlight of 2007 was reaching the third round of the Australian Open when she almost upset the odds before falling to seventh seed Elena Dementieva.
Punters monitoring her progress saw their bets collapse, however, when she was sent packing by home favourite Serena Williams at the second-round stage of the more recent US Open.
Those seeking home comforts might consider 2005 beaten finalist Katarina Srebotnik from Slovenia a potential bet.
Her last singles titles came in 2005 in Auckland and Stockholm but her progress in 2007 - she reached the third round of the Australian Open and Wimbledon - could see her odds shorten.
And she will be looking to improve on her showing in 2006 when the top seed upset the odds by crashing out in the opening round.
Austrian left-hander Sybille Bammer, a semi-finalist in Hobart, Indian Wells, Amelia Island and Stanford this year, could also attract support in the betting.
