Those looking to have a bet on the ATP Open de Moselle should note that last year's winner Novak Djokovic is determined to successfully defend his title when the tournament begins on October 1.
The Serbian won what was only his second ATP tour event by defeating Jurgen Melzer in 2006, when his odds drifted considerably in the in-play betting after he lost the first set, but he rewarded those who matched bets on him by fighting back to win 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
The 20-year-old says he wants to become world number one and loves the tournament and playing in France. After victory last year he put on a French national team football shirt with the nickname 'Noel' on the back, given to him by his French friends.
Djokovic's odds are certain to come under consideration both in the outright-winner and individual-match betting markets.
But the betting will reflect a great performance at The US Open where he put up a brave show in the final losing 7-6, 7-6, 6-4 to arguably the world's greatest ever player, Roger Federer, despite being longs odds.
Home players, are also worth considering in the betting as they have a good record of progressing in the tournament which was added to the ATP calendar in 2003.
The Open de Moselle has become a thrilling betting event and French players are always eager to impress and can often be matched at attractive odds.
Last year for example, three of the four quarter-finalists were French although only one, Sebastien Grosjean, made the semi-finals where he lost to Djokovic.
One name which is likely to catch the eye of many looking for a bet at attractive odds will be talented French youngster Gael Monfils, who recently turned 21.
Monfils has been flirting with the lower end of the top 50 in ATP rankings this year and many looking at a potential bet believe he has a tour victory in him this season.
Those with bets on the Paris-born star in the outright winner market just lost out in 2005 when he was a beaten finalist and he could go close again.
His conqueror two years ago, Ivan Ljubicic, is likely to gain plenty support in the betting, with five out of his eight ATP Tour successes coming on hard courts, while he last landed bets for his backers on grass in Holland at the Ordina Open in June.
The Open de Moselle should again provide great excitement for those looking for in-play bets or odds in the various betting markets.
