"This match will be a close affair with few breaks of serve; I envisage three sets and at least one tie break."
Ben Caudell believes that Juan Martin Del Potro's resurgence will be curtailed on Saturday night...
Robin Soderling (SWE) v Juan Martin Del Potro (ARG)
Robin Soderling's unbeaten run at the ATP World Tour Finals came to an abrupt end when he lost to Nikolay Davydenko in a thrilling three set battle. The Swedish alternate, whom replaced Andy Roddick due to injury at this year's event had previously defeated Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. He now faces a tough challenge against the resurgent Juan Martin Del Potro of Argentina who qualified thanks to impressive wins over Roger Federer and Fernando Verdasco.
The playing styles of both Del Potro and Soderling are not too dissimilar; each player posses an attacking style complemented by big serves. As the taller of the two, Del Potro has managed to turn his dire form on its head with two commanding displays of rueful power and mature technical ability. This match will be a close affair with few breaks of serve; I envisage three sets and at least one tie break. The head-to-head series reads 1-1, with the most recent win going to Del Potro on hard courts at the Auckland ATP tournament earlier this year.
