Can Lloyd eke out another week in X Factor?

"Cowbell is an avid reader of this column. I spoke to Sting about his X Factor concerns, wrote about them here, Cowbell read them, and then issued an only-to-be-snubbed invitation for Sting to appear on the show. Come on you two. It’s time for detente. Round mine for dinner. We’ll talk about it over sushi. We could try some of that tantric stuff after. No tongues though."

Punters are convinced it's curtains for young Welsh wizard Lloyd Daniels and that makes his price very lay-able for Jack Houghton

Anyone else think that one of the Twins is a bit like Brick Tamland from Anchorman? I'm not sure which - it may be John, Edward; or their brother Jedward - but one of them - the one who is always half-a-beat behind on the dance moves and mimes in the wrong places during the group sing-song - looks continually perplexed. Why all the loud noise? Why is everyone dancing? Who's this guy next to me with the stupid hair?

What kind of psychological screening does the X Factor crew insist upon? Because, after all, if a loony-binner isn't allowed to stand trial in this country, I'm not sure they should be allowed on primetime Saturday night television either.

Weighty considerations such as this can, appropriately enough, wait... we've got news to catch up on. And, in the week it became apparent that Louis Walsh takes song-choice advice from Mike Norman, we found out - less surprisingly - that Cowbell is an avid reader of this column. I spoke to Sting about his X Factor concerns, wrote about them here, Cowbell read them, and then issued an only-to-be-snubbed invitation for Sting to appear on the show. Come on you two. It's time for detente. Round mine for dinner. We'll talk about it over sushi. We could try some of that tantric stuff after. No tongues though.

After numerous chops and changes - much to the chagrin of this-show-is-really-all-about-me-creative-director Brian Friedman - programme-makers have settled on a Wham! and George Michael theme for this week. And as artist-themed-weeks usually coincide with a release from said artist, look out for George Michael in a public toilet near you.

Paddy Power has published results of an online poll it conducted which saw Twins' Brick and Edward voted top: making them bigger than the Beatles. Didn't John Lennon once get in trouble for saying the Beatles were bigger than Jesus? What does that tell you? I used to be an atheist; then I realised Bredward was God.

In other news, Lloyd's mum has claimed Cowbell is racist against the Welsh. She reckons his treatment of Lloyd - particularly when Cowbell compared Lloyd's performance to a "puppy taking part in the Grand National" - proves his bias. Calm down love. Cowbell probably doesn't even realise Lloyd is Welsh. After all: no tash; no anchor tattoo on his forearm; no minor's lamp... he doesn't even look Welsh. Puppies in the Grand National though. Now there's an idea.

Into the mundane world of this week's advice we a-go go. (That was a Wham! joke, by the way). It's easy to see why Lloyd is such a short-price to be eliminated on Sunday. Despite delivering his best performance of the series so far last week, he found himself in the bottom two for the second time, and it's likely his limited talent is reaching the end of its useful worth on the show. However, purely on price, I'm going to lay Lloyd for two points at [1.36] in the Bottom Two market, and one point at [1.87] in the Week 7 Elimination market.

True, he's the most likely to go; but I don't think he's as likely to go as those prices suggest. Danyl and Bredward have been in the bottom two before and, at this stage of the show, it's unlikely than any - except perhaps Olly - are truly safe. A later billing and decent showing might be enough to see Lloyd safe for another week and, for fairly minimal stakes, I'm happy to take a punt on the prospect of that happening.

This week's recommendations:
2 pts LAY Lloyd at [1.36] in Bottom Two market - Week Seven.
1 pt LAY Lloyd at [1.87] in Elimination market - Week Seven.

Already Recommended:
4 pts LAY Danyl at [2.02] in Top 3 market.
1 pt BACK Dannii at [2.48] in Winning Judge market.
1 pt BACK Cheryl at [8.0] in Winning Judge market.
1 pt BACK Joseph at [12.0] in Winner market.
1 pt BACK Lloyd at [25.0] in Winner market.
1 pt BACK Olly at [3.4] in Over 25s market.
1 pt BACK Olly at [8.2] in Winner market.

Already Settled (-2.6 pts):
2 pts BACK Rachel at [2.7] in Bottom Two market - Week Two - WON.
3 pts BACK Rachel at [1.76] in Bottom Two market - Week Three - LOST.
2 pts BACK Lucie at [2.10] in Girls market - LOST.
1pt BACK John and Edward at [2.0] in Bottom Two market - Week Six - LOST
