X Factor 2009 Betting: Terrible Twins to frustrate viewers even longer

X-Factor RSS / Mike Norman / 19 October 2009 / Leave a comment

Twins John and Edward continue to defy the odds and remain in this year's X Factor competition. Just how long will they overstay their welcome though?

X Factor twins John and Edward really did do it again on Saturday when they appallingly covered and old Britney Spears hit. Is it time for this dreadful duo to leave the competition? Maybe, but it won't happen this week says Mike Norman.

The fact that John and Edward are only third best – at [4.7] – in the 3rd Elimination market suggests that Betfairians agree, and that either Rachel ([2.84]) or Miss Frank ([4.5]) will wave goodbye to the competition on Sunday.

So those horrible little creatures John and Edward made it through to the next round of this year's X Factor... just like I suspected they would.

I want to know who on god's earth is voting for them. Come on, now is the time to own up. I know my mate Ste is voting for them because he said so on Facebook. He even said that their dance routine on Saturday night reminded him of the days when me and him used to go clubbing when we were just 18. I'm not sure about that, drunken dancing and being all out of rhythm was the fashion back then, and at least we pulled a few birds (me more than him may I add).

I can't see John and Edward pulling a few birds can you? I know they get millions of birds pulling hair out as soon as they start singing, but that's about it.

Apparently though, J & E are very likeable off stage... when they're at home... in bed... asleep... not singing, not moving... just laying there... asleep. The thought of absolutely nothing coming from those guy's mouths is an incredible one, one to be savored in fact.

The reason I say that is because I honestly don't think they'll be eliminated this week, and unfortunately, we are going to have to put up with performances like this for a few more weeks yet. The fact that John and Edward are only third best - at [4.7] - in the 3rd Elimination market suggests that Betfairians agree, and that either Rachel ([2.84]) or Miss Frank ([4.5]) will wave goodbye to the competition on Sunday.

I think you knowledgeable traders have got it just about right, especially in the Bottom Two Combo market where you make the Miss Frank/Rachel combo the favourite at [3.45]. It's a difficult one this week regarding elimination/bottom two etc, and I'd personally stay clear of any huge wagers.

And remember, my (ok Jack, our) advice is well worth taking. Last week my colleague Jack Houghton told you that Rachel was worth a bet at [2.7] in the Bottom Two market, though being the current Reality TV Tipster of the Year it wasn't too difficult for me to go one better and recommend Rikki at [5.2] in the 2nd Elimination market.

The only thing to note in the outright Winner market is that Lucie Jones - who was clear favourite when the market was first formed - is now available to back at [9.0], and has at least five acts at shorter odds then her (Danyl [5.0], Joseph [5.2], Stacey [6.0], Jamie [8.0] and Olly [8.4]).

The drift is not surprising to me, as I did say that she is unlikely to win and that Stacey would outlast her in the Girls market - Stacey ([1.88]), Lucie ([2.32]) and Rachel ([9.8]) are the three girls in contention.

In all honesty Diva week wasn't that great, especially when you consider that the majority of the talent this year is coming from male voices. But I did find it amusing when Whitney Houston nearly lost her dress during her live performance on the Sunday night results show. She fought really hard to keep her boobs from being revealed to the whole nation, though she needn't have worried... we've already seen two bigger t**s during this year's X Factor - one's called John, the other is called Edward.
