Super Tuesday State Profile: Arizona
Democratic Primary Analysis:
Hillary Clinton goes into Arizona as favourite, though this is one of those states Barack Obama will have to do well in if he wants to come through Super Tuesday to still be in with a chance of securing the nomination. What is important for the Democratic Primary here is that it is not winner-takes-all but delegates are assigned proportionally to the number of votes you get. Thus, losing is not a disaster. If Clinton won by 2 percent then the actual number of delegates each receive will be largely the same, and so if you see the headline 'Clinton wins Arizona' don't go lumping on Clinton in the nomination market straight away.
Republican Primary Analysis:
McCain leads in Arizona but the pack appears to be staying in touch with an average lead of just 6 points in the polls. This is John McCain's home state and it is largely accepted that winning your home state should be a formality if you are a serious candidate, and this looks set to be the case for McCain. Saying that, Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee are in with a shout.
